Emma Cohen de Lara is senior lecturer in political theory at Amsterdam University College, research fellow in the Political Science department at VU University Amsterdam, and senior research fellow at the Civic Humanism Center for Character and Professional Ethics at the University of Navarra, Spain. She teaches courses on classical and modern political theory, ancient philosophy, friendship, and resilience. She is actively involved in promoting liberal arts and sciences education and has co-organized a number of international conferences and symposia. Emma‘s research interests include ancient political thought, virtue ethics, character education, liberal education, and literature. Among her recent publications are “Education for Life: Great Books Seminars as a Way to Provide Today’s University Students with a Personally Meaningful and Civically Relevant Education,” Comprendre.
