Leire Escalada is Lecturer of Writing at the School of Communication of the University of Navarra and Communication Manager at the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the same university. Leire has a degree in Journalism from the University of Navarra and a Master’s in Literary Editing from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She writes literary criticism and directs the digital platform Marea de Libros.

Previously, Leire has worked in the Communication Department of the publishing house Siruela and the Museum of the University of Navarra, as well as for Spanish newspapers such as Diario de NavarraNavarra.com, and El Diario Vasco.

Leire is interested in literature of memory and nonfiction, as well as short fiction. For the past five years, she has co-directed the Reading Mentors project at the University of Navarra, which promotes reading habits among university students through peer teaching. The Reading Mentors program has become part of the REMAP: Reading for Meaning and Purpose project.
